The Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association recently awarded Cemex USA the 2011 Reclamation Achievement Award for the ongoing, successful reclamation of one of its partially active quarries in Fairborn. Mining at the site will be completed in 2012, and all reclamation efforts are scheduled for completion in 2014. Cemex received the same recognition in 2008 for the successful reclamation of its Beavercreek clay mine site in Beavercreek, Ohio.
“We are proud of our successful mine reclamation efforts in Fairborn and are honored to be recognized as an industry leader in nature conservation,” said Karl Watson, Jr., president of Cemex USA. “This award is testament to our ongoing commitment to minimize our footprint and mitigate the impacts of our quarry operations in the communities in which we live, work, and operate.”
