Cemex has been selected as a winner of the 2013 Manufacturing Leadership 100 Awards in the category Innovative Enterprise, recognizing the company’s efforts to help drive and shape the future of global manufacturing. The award was given at the 9th annual Manufacturing Leadership Summit in Palm Beach, Fla.
Cemex demonstrated positive impacts on operating results and process efficiencies for the adoption of Shift – its social networking platform with a business focus. By using Shift, employees’ ideas, suggestions and recommendations bubble up across the network. Communities of interest are formed to tackle challenges common to their locations, markets and skill sets; and projects move forward without the barriers posed by traditional hurdles, such as over-reliance on e-mail and live meetings. Benefits of Shift are lower cycle times, faster time to market, and real-time process improvement.
The company’s recent success and innovation was benchmarked against a number of other companies competing for this same recognition. Cemex was named the High Achiever in the category over other winners like Ford Motor Company and GE Global Research. In 2012, IBM was recognized as the winner.
A panel of expert judges evaluated nominations across 11 categories, seven of the ML100 categories celebrate outstanding projects undertaken and completed by a manufacturing company.
