CalPortland Co. CEO Allen Hamblen and Continental Cement Co. President Tom Beck were elected 2017 chairman and vice chairman of the Portland Cement Association (PCA) board of directors. Hamblen takes over PCA board chairmanship from John Stull, CEO of U.S. Cement for LafargeHolcim.
“I thank John for his leadership in guiding strategic initiatives that reflect industry priorities,” said Hamblen. “My focus as chairman will be to look for ways that PCA can engage other associations in complementary and collaborative ways. I believe that together we can accomplish great things for the cement industry.”
PCA President and CEO James G. Toscas added, “PCA is very fortunate to have such strong leadership on our board, and I look forward to working closely with Allen during his chairmanship.”
Prior to 2006, Hamblen was president and CEO of Glacier Northwest and has worked with CalPortland and its predecessor for 31 years. Hamblen is past chairman of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, a trustee of the Ready Mixed Concrete Research & Education Foundation and is a past president of the Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association.
A past chairman of the American Concrete Paving Association, Beck served as senior vice president at Continental Cement from 2005 to 2013, and as vice president of sales and marketing from 1996 to 2005.
