The Portland Cement Association (PCA) praised the confirmation of Elaine Chao as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation by the U.S. Senate.
“We congratulate Elaine Chao on her confirmation as Secretary of Transportation, and welcome the opportunity to work with her in the years ahead,” said PCA President and CEO James G. Toscas. “Her wealth of experience and admirable record of public service will be keen assets as she leads the Administration’s effort to revitalize America’s transportation infrastructure. The nation’s cement manufacturers are ready to support these efforts, by providing the essential foundation for vital transportation networks of all kinds – including highways, bridges, waterways, pipelines and runways.”
Secretary Chao served as Deputy Transportation Secretary from 1989 to 1991 under President George H.W. Bush, and Secretary of Labor, with oversight of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, from 2001 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. She has also served on the Vulcan Materials’ board of directors.
