The World Cement Association (WCA) announced that Houston-based Royal White Cement and Penna Cement of India are the latest additions to its international membership, which now spans 38 countries. Both companies join as corporate members.
“We are delighted to welcome [Royal White Cement] to our expanding global network,” said Norman Greig, WCA secretary general. “The United States is the world’s third biggest cement producer and we are looking forward to working together with such an important local player to promote and strengthen the goals of the global cement industry.”
Royal White Cement was established in 1999. The producer has an annual capacity of 500,000 tons and supplies white cement to customers throughout the United States from seven locations.
“As the international cement market continues to evolve, with emerging markets in particular becoming more influential in the global ecosystem, there is a clear need for a worldwide organization to represent the sector as a whole and bring together players from all across the globe,” said Marcel Fadi, CEO and president of Royal White Cement.
Commenting on the news, Penna Cement’s Director of Marketing Krishna Srivastava, said: “We are glad to be part of the World Cement Association, which will help us to benchmark against the best companies in the world to improve our environmental sustainability and energy conservation.”
The company was founded in 1991 and today holds a cement capacity of 10 Mtpy. Penna Cement is a leading Indian cement brand and serves a clientele ranging from small house owners and organized real estate developers to state governments and construction majors. In recent years, the company has implemented various measures to ensure the reduction of CO2 emissions and energy conservation.
