Lehigh Cement Co. will host a public meeting this month about its proposal to burn alternative fuel at its Glens Falls, N.Y., plant, reported The Post-Star. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Adirondack Room at The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. Reservations are not required.
The company is seeking an update to its air permit with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to burn raggertail – a 40 percent paper fiber and 60 percent plastic trimmings mixture. The alternative fuel would be used on an as-needed basis in combination with coal or natural gas to heat the plant’s kiln.
Lehigh Cement officials said it would present information and answer questions about its proposal at the Jan. 29 meeting.
