California’s cement plants have higher emissions per ton of cement than similar facilities in China, India and other major cement-producing regions, according to a report commissioned by Sierra Club California. The findings of the report show that the state’s cement industry has yet to transition to low-carbon methods.

SINTEF Hybrid Technology Makes It Easier to Capture CO2
Norway-based SINTEF Energy announced that researchers upgraded a method used to capture greenhouse gases generated during the cement manufacturing process. The new hybrid technology makes it easier and less expensive to capture and purify CO2 produced by the industry.
