The World Cement Association (WCA) announced that it has appointed two new joint chairmen: Cui Xingtai of China United Cement Co. (CUCC) and Vincent Lefebvre of France-based Cem’In’Eu.
Xingtai is the chairman of CUCC, a position he has held since 2005, and vice president of China National Building Material Co. He provides WCA with a wealth of knowledge across the Chinese building materials sector.
Upon his appointment, Xingtai stated: “WCA supports a sustainable cement industry, encouraging technical development and promoting best practices to achieve full decarburization, and provides practical help to members to accelerate their progress on this critical journey. I believe that CUCC can contribute to this vision and will also benefit from its membership and active participation in WCA.”
Lefebvre has dual experience as an international group executive with Holcim and founder/executive chairman of Cem’In’Eu, an industrial start-up. He has knowledge of markets and innovation, offering a valuable contribution to the WCA’s board.
“I am proud to be associated with WCA, which is committed to giving all corporate members the same rights, whether large or small, whether from emerging economies or developed countries, and which provides practical help to improve the industry’s environmental performance,” Lefebvre said.
WCA CEO Ian Riley welcomed both Xingtai and Lefebvre to their new positions. “I am delighted that the board has appointed two such distinguished executives as joint chairmen of the association. Their strong track record as businessmen underlines our commitment to providing practical value-added services to our members,” Riley commented.
