Caribbean Cement Co. has signed a new retroactive three-year collective labor agreement with the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) for the company’s unionized workers at its Rockfort Plant in Kingston, Jamaica, reported the Jamaica Observer.
Under the agreement, employees will receive an 18% wage increase over the three-year period (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021). Other benefits secured by the union include an across the board 10% increase on call-out pay, matching savings, transportation allowance, and scholarships for employees’ children. There is also an adjustment on the profit-sharing scheme, housing benefits and loan programs.
Both sides have expressed appreciation upon the amicable conclusion of the negotiations, UCASE said.
