CEMEX has confirmed that it is implementing hydrogen technology at its cement plant in San Pedro de Macorís in the Dominican Republic. The project is part of the “Future in Action” program, which seeks to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Currently, the use of CEMEX’s hydrogen technology includes injection into furnaces to optimize the combustion process and thus increase the use of alternative fuels. Both investments were made to meet the company’s 2030 goal of reducing CO2 emissions in the cement production process by approximately 40%.
Among its main technological innovation projects is a partnership with the English company Hiiroc, a leading company in technology for hydrogen generation.
