The Portland Cement Association Sustainability Summit: Zeroing in on 2030, presented Aug. 13-15 free of charge over the Zoom platform, will feature one keynote presentation or panel and one update session daily, their content covering topics from cement plant fuels and carbon dioxide emissions capture, to mix designs and concrete CO2 uptake, to general contractor strategies for carbon-minded project owners. The Summit advances knowledge central to the PCA Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
The Day 1 keynote session, Alternative Fuels, will offer perspectives from North American and European representatives. The Concrete Link update session, Mixture Optimization, will feature Irving Materials’ Dr. Heather Brown, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Lionel Lemay, Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete’s Ryan Cialdella and Vulcan Materials’ Alana Guzzetta.
Day 2 will see a Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage-themed keynote, including a Kline Consulting report on Heidelberg Materials’ inaugural CCUS project in Norway, followed by a session on the Associated General Contractors of America Decarbonization Playbook.
Cemex USA’s Mark Niemuth and Votorantim Cimentos North America’s Nick Popoff will address Blended Cements in the keynote for Day 3, capped by a Carbon Uptake Link update with National Institute of Standards and Technology, Concrete Sustainability Hub at MIT and NEU, an ACI Center of Excellence staff. Each day’s program runs 10 a.m. to noon CST.
