Good-bye Cement Products, hello Cement Optimized.
SEMCO Publishing has effectively changed the name of this publication, as of right now. We are excited to announce this change, which reflects our commitment to providing the most comprehensive coverage of the North American cement industry, and new emerging technologies for cementitious materials.
The new title better reflects the magazine’s mission of helping readers optimize their operations and stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing industry.
Cement Optimized will expand its focus on supplementary cementitious-materials processing, distribution and uptake in the North American market, where public and private construction interests are streamlining levels of carbon-intensive portland cement in concrete mix designs.
We will increase our coverage of circularity and sustainability in cementitious material production and use, while continuing to deliver exceptional coverage of portland cement operations, regulatory compliance, plus workforce and market development strategies.
Joining the staff as co-editor is Don Marsh, editor of sister publication Concrete Products. Don is well known in the construction materials industry and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, further strengthening this publication’s commitment to providing readers with great content. Jonathan Rowland, former editor of World Cement, will continue his role as contributing editor, and Josephine Patterson, with more than a decade of covering cement-industry topics, will also continue her role as managing editor.
It will be interesting times ahead for Cement Optimized, given the results of the recent elections. Following Donald J. Trump winning the presidential election, Portland Cement Association President and CEO Mike Ireland released the following statement:
“The Portland Cement Association (PCA) – representing America’s cement manufacturers – congratulates and looks forward to working with President Donald J. Trump and both newly-elected and returning members of Congress. PCA is eager to work with the incoming administration to create market‐based policies and initiatives that will enable the cement and concrete industry’s continued reduction of its carbon footprint while preserving its global competitiveness.
Everything old is new again.
