Slag Cement School Registration Opens

The Slag Cement Association (SCA) said registration is open for the fourth annual Slag Cement School in Houston, April 21-22. 

The school will include educational presentations on slag cement use in concrete construction, sustainable resources available, and other presentations on benefits of slag cement use. On day two, attendees will also get a behind-the-scenes look at Texas Lehigh Cement’s slag cement plant.

“We are excited to announce the opening of registration for SCA’s fourth annual Slag Cement School in Houston, Texas,” said Nick Brimley, membership and marketing director, SCA. “The event continues to be the premier educational opportunity for industrial professional to learn about the many benefits and applications of slag cement.”

Slag Cement School sessions include:

  • Slag Cement Basics, Production and Cementitious Properties, presented by Adam Wallace, Ozinga.
  • Enhancing Concrete Durability Using Slag Cement, presented by Wayne Wilson, Heidelberg Materials.
  • Slag Cement’s Role in Sustainable Concrete, presented by Shawn Kalyn, St Marys Cement.
  • Texas Specifications Related to the Use of Slag Cement, presented by Bill Goodloe, Cemex.
  • Expanding the Role of Slag in Concrete Construction: Trends and Challenges in the U.S. and Texas, presented by Darren Wilbanks, Texas Lehigh Cement Co.
