Total shipments of portland and blended cement, including imports, in the United States and Puerto Rico in February 2025 were an estimated 6.05 million metric tons (Mt), a 20.1% decrease from shipments in February 2024, according to the most recent USGS Mineral Industry Survey. This is a 9.3% decrease from the five-year average in February.
Shipments for the year through February totaled an estimated 11.8 Mt, a 12.7% decrease from those for the same period in 2024. Of total blended tonnage reported year-to-date in 2025, 6.63 Mt (96%) was estimated to be portland-limestone cement (Type IL); the leading destination for Type IL shipments by tonnage was Texas.
The leading producing states for portland and blended cement in February 2025 were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Alabama. The leading cement-consuming states (Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and Arizona, in descending order) received 49.4% of shipments in February.
Masonry cement shipments totaled an estimated 149,000 metric tons (t) in February 2025, a 16.7% decrease from those in February 2024. Shipments for the year through February totaled an estimated 299,000 t, a decrease of 12.9% from those for the same period in 2024. The leading masonry cement-consuming states in February 2025 were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, California and Tennessee; these states received 66.2% of shipments in February.
Clinker production, excluding Puerto Rico, totaled an estimated 3.71 Mt in February 2025, a 24.9% decrease from production in February 2024. Production for the year through February totaled an estimated 7.99 Mt, a 17.9% decrease from the same period in 2024. The leading clinker-producing states in February 2024 were, in descending order, Florida, California, Texas, Missouri and South Carolina; these states accounted for 54.5% of February clinker production.
