Calgary-based Carbon Upcycling was one of 10 companies from around the globe to win the 2025 Keeling Curve Prize, part of the Global Warming Mitigation Project. Winners were awarded $50,000 to help scale their pioneering climate solutions.

Carbon Upcycling was one of the two winners in the Carbon Sink category. Its CUT CO2 System strengthens construction supply chains by localizing critical material manufacturing. The technology transforms CO2 and industrial byproducts into an abundant and local source of cement materials with a lower carbon footprint.
“For Carbon Upcycling, as a Calgary company, to be recognized on this world stage for carbon capture and utilization, not storage, is fantastic,” Dante Luu, communications lead at Carbon Upcycling, told the Calgary Herald. “It truly is a testament and a nod, or a stamp of approval, to the work that we’re doing.”Since its inception in 2018, the Keeling Curve Prize has received over 2,500 applications and awarded $2.75 million to 80 winning organizations. Collectively, those winners have gone on to secure more than $2.75 billion in additional funding.
