Lafarge North America has signed a deal to build a cement transloading facility in Williston, N.D., according to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead.
The storage facility and terminal will be located on a new rail spur on the east side of Williston (the East Valley Rail project). It will allow the company to better serve customers amid growing demand for construction materials in the Dakotas – supporting 30,000 tons of cement storage moving into the area. Additionally, the facility will relieve truck traffic from U.S. Highway 2, noted Roy Sander, general manager of Lafarge Dakotas.
Lafarge’s cement is used in the Bakken oil patch to stabilize soil for roads and extraction sites as well as for drilling. It is also critical to serving the growing population with infrastructure, housing, schools and hospitals, reported the newspaper.
