Belt Conveyor Idler Replacement Bracket

Mining operations have long dealt with delays resulting from conveyor maintenance issues. A down conveyor can result in the loss of thousands of dollars of production. A new replacement bracket from Hallen Specialties, Inc., is helping mining companies reduce downtime due to the common problem of damaged idler frame roller center supports. Invented by a coal miner with two decades of experience in the mining industry, the patented Belt Conveyor Idler Replacement Bracket eliminates the need to replace the entire frame when a center support fails. “Not only is downtime reduced, but this new bracket does the job at a fraction of the cost when compared to replacing the entire frame,” said Pamela Siblik, president of Hallen Specialties.

The replacement procedure is relatively easy. After removing the rollers and then cutting or breaking away the damaged frame roller center supports, the Belt Conveyor Idler Replacement Bracket is installed by aligning bracket cut-outs over the remnants of the removed frame center supports and then secured with bolts, nuts and washers. The entire operation can be completed in approximately 20 minutes. The replacement brackets are available as a one-piece unit to repair/replace both roller center supports and as a “single” bracket to repair/replace only one side of a damaged roller center support. This “single” bracket option is even more advantageous in reducing downtime. The American-made Belt Conveyor Idler Replacement Bracket is laser cut from ¼-in. steel plate, processed through a zinc phosphate e-coat undercoat, then top coated using an electrostatic powder coat providing 99.9% coverage, as well as corrosion resistance of 1,000-plus hours in a neutral salt spray bath.  Hallen Specialties, www.hallenspecialties.com
