Caribbean Cement Co. recently exported clinker to Haiti for the first time, reported the Jamaica Observer. The shipment of 7,500 metric tonnes was possible due to an excess of clinker produced at the company’s Rockfort, Jamaica, plant.
The producer has invested more than $22 billion in capital expenditure and more than $500 million in training, health and safety, and improving the environment of the Rockfort plant. Caribbean Cement has focused efforts on modernizing the plant as it believes that a strong local industry is key to the development of Jamaica.
Caribbean Cement has also exported 14,300 metric tonnes of clinker to Trinidad and Tobago this year.
