Two CEMEX USA operations were recognized for their ongoing excellence in safety by the Portland Cement Association (PCA), each named among the top safety performers in the United States by earning the PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award.
The Clinchfield Cement Plant in Clinchfield, Ga., and Victorville Cement Plant in Victorville, Calif., were both presented with the awards by video from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health David Zatezalo.
With this year’s PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award, CEMEX USA’s Clinchfield and Victorville cement plants continued to build on their reputations for safety. The employees at the Clinchfield plant have earned the award for three consecutive years while those at the Victorville facility have been recognized for two years in a row.
The two CEMEX USA operations were selected from 100 industry cement plants nationwide and recognized for their longstanding dedication to safe practices while producing portland cement.
“Health and safety is our top priority at CEMEX, and we strive to pursue excellence at all of our operations every day,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “We are proud of our teams and their continued commitment. They are leading the way in the industry with their unwavering dedication, and they inspire us as we continue our non-stop efforts to improve health and safety throughout our operations.”
“At CEMEX, we are committed to health and safety each day, and we work as a team to look for opportunities to improve and help each other,” added Edgar Angeles, CEMEX USA executive vice president – cement operations and technology. “We believe everyone should be responsible for health and safety, and we are proud of the efforts of our teams. It’s a true honor to be recognized by the PCA as some of the best operations in the country.”
CEMEX USA has a longstanding commitment to health and safety while pursuing Zero4Life, a constant effort to achieve zero recordable injuries, job-related illnesses, preventable vehicular incidents and environmental events.
The company has earned nearly 20 PCA awards in the last four years for efforts in safety, community outreach and sustainability.
