PCA recognized Cemex Executive Vice President Frank Craddock as the winner of the 2012 John P. Gleason, Jr., Leadership Award. Presented at association’s recent annual fall committee meeting in Chicago, the award honors employees of member companies who have exhibited industry leadership by taking the PCA in new directions. Awards are presented in two categories of key strategic initiatives: Business Continuity and Market Development, the category in which Craddock was honored.
Craddock was instrumental in fostering the creation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concrete Sustainability Hub, which was established in 2009 with the goal of accelerating emerging breakthroughs in concrete science, and engineering and transferring that science into practice. Supported by PCA and the Ready Mixed Concrete Education and Research Foundation, Craddock coordinated the governance structure of The Hub and established an Industry Advisory Council of both cement and ready mixed concrete executives for it. He also acted as this advisory group’s first chairman.
In addition, Craddock serves on the PCA Board of Directors, Government Affairs Council, PAC Board, and PAC Finance Committee. The award is named after John P. “Jay” Gleason, Jr., who served as PCA president from 1986 until his retirement in 2007. Gleason was known for his consensus building among both members and allies, and for his strong leadership skills.
