Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton announced that a paper based on a case study of its arc flash compliance project for Lehigh Hanson received the “Best Conference Technical Paper” award at the 2013 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Industrial Applications Society/Portland Cement Association (IEEE IAS/PCA) Cement Industry Technical Conference.
“The Journey of an Enterprise in a Process Industry Toward Improved Electrical Workplace Safety,” is a case study based on Eaton’s Engineering Services’ arc flash compliance project – completed in 2012 – for Lehigh Hanson’s 14 cement plants in North America. The paper was written by Dave Durocher, global industry manager, Mining and Minerals Processing, Eaton; Greg Kemper, director, Project Engineering, Lehigh Hanson; and Bill Vilcheck, advisory engineer, Eaton Engineering Services. The case study was chosen from among 31 technical papers.
“Eaton is dedicated to excellence in the services and solutions it provides to its customers,” said Durocher. “The fact that Lehigh Hanson participated in the writing of the paper and also presented the benefits of applying Eaton’s expertise in this important initiative before its peers at the largest technical conference in its industry speaks volumes. We see Lehigh Hanson emerging as an electrical workplace safety leader in the North American cement industry. Eaton is proud to have been a part of this successful initiative.”
