Through nearly two months of work, crews have leveled the former Portland Cement Association (PCA) headquarters building in Skokie, Ill. Two more buildings at the association’s longtime campus will be demolished to make way for residential and commercial development.
Demolition commenced in late 2023 on the buildings at the campus that housed one of the world’s principal cement and concrete knowledge centers since 1968. Crew challenges will continue with demolition of the original 1948 PCA office building, long the home base of CTLGroup and the Structures Laboratory, a reinforced concrete behemoth engineered for load testing of bridge and other large members.
The Barco Investment Group acquired CTLGroup and purchased the PCA campus in 2019. PCA is currently headquartered in Washington, D.C.
