Dragon Products, a subsidiary of Giant Cement, plans to lay off six more workers at its Thomaston, Maine, cement plant as the company continues to wind down operations and transition the facility into a distribution center, reported local media.
Last year, the company announced that the plant, which operated for almost a century, would undergo a gradual process of idling production due to growing operating and logistical costs. It planned to cut 65 jobs over the course of a year. These latest layoffs are expected to happen between now and January.
The operation currently employs 26 people.
