Rodolfo Montero was appointed the new CEO of Holcim México, effective March 1, succeeding Eduardo Kretschmer, who is retiring after 34 years with Holcim.
Montero’s previous position was CEO of Holcim Ecuador, which he has held since 2010. He joined Holcim in 1990 and has since held various management responsibilities with extensive experience in the technical and commercial area. His vision and experience have contributed to the achievement of business objectives in those countries where he held management positions, including Nicaragua (CEO), Cemento Panamá (CEO) and Sri Lanka (commercial director).
Montero has a degree in civil engineering as well as a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Costa Rica. He also has a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Eduardo Kretschmer concludes a period of seven years as head of Holcim México and 34 as part of the company globally. During his tenure at Holcim México, the company made significant advances with the construction and opening of the seventh cement production plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, which extended existing production in the country to 12.6 million tons.
In 2013, Kretschmer led the rebranding and identity of the company as part of Holcim Group’s strategy to unify its brand and strengthen the presence of a global leader in the Mexican market.
“I thank Holcim for showing confidence in me for the enormous task of leading this great company in Mexico. We face complex challenges and internal processes that allowed us to consolidate the image and presence of Holcim in the country. I’m sure the arrival of Rodolfo Montero, with all his experience will be of great value to the company and our customers,” said Kretschmer.
