Alejandro Vares will leave his current position as interim country manager of Cemex Costa Rica to take on the role of general manager at Caribbean Cement Co. Ltd., effective May 4, reported The Gleaner. Vares is replacing outgoing head Anthony Haynes.
Haynes will serve until the end of April, then transition to a new position as “consultant to the Trinidad Cement Ltd. Group for six months in this instance,” the company noted in a press release. It is unclear whether this arrangement will be renegotiated or restructured when his initial term ends.
Cemex recently doubled its stake in Trinidad Cement Ltd. from 20 percent to 39.5 percent through its subsidiary Sierra Trading. Alongside its interest in Caribbean Cement through its stake in TCL, the company also owns 5 percent of the Jamaican cement operation through Scancem International.
