WCA Adds New Affiliate Member

The World Cement Association (WCA) has further expanded its international network of members by welcoming the Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT) as an affiliate member.

The ICT was established in 1972 and is the concrete sector’s professional development body, operating internationally to provide qualifications in concrete technology to people with a professional interest in the industry.

“The cement and concrete industries have always been close partners and have a long history of collaborating across the world to develop innovative solutions to shared challenges, so we are very happy to be welcoming ICT today,” said Ian Riley, CEO at WCA. “Right now, the biggest challenge we face is reducing our impact on climate change, and the concrete industry has a huge role to play in supporting the development and adoption of new technologies that will be vital in ensuring progress toward a net-zero cement sector.”

ICT’s mission is to preserve and promote concrete technology as a recognized engineering discipline and consolidate the professional status of practicing concrete technologists globally, fulfilling a range of functions to enhance the prospects of its members.

“We have been impressed with the way WCA is helping its members move toward a net-zero future,” said Edwin Trout, executive officer at ICT. “We look forward to collaborating with WCA and its members, to explore and promote emerging concrete technologies and improve people’s knowledge across the globe for mutual benefit.’’

Affiliate membership is designed for regional or national cement associations and other partner groups, which are not-for-profit organizations working in areas related to the objectives of the WCA. Through this membership, WCA invites companies to be part of its network and together improve industry standards worldwide.
