Missouri-based Capital Sand Co. is expanding its storage capacity at the Jefferson City River Terminal in Fulton, Mo., with two new silos, reported the Jefferson City News Tribune.
The terminal, which is operated by Capital Sand, is the company’s largest. The new silos will reach heights of 100 ft. and span 36 ft. in diameter, adding around 6,000 tons of additional storage. The existing silos have a 1,500-ton capacity.
“We’re excited because this is going to make the terminal more efficient,” Operations Manager Jason Branstetter said. “It’s still under construction. We’re anticipating probably a June 1 startup date.”
“The silos will be used to store portland cement,” he continued. “We barge the cement to our terminal and then it is distributed to ready-mix concrete plants in the Central Missouri area.”
