Maine’s Board of Environmental Protection voted unanimously to allow Dragon Products Co.’s cement plant in Thomaston to increase its mercury emissions from 25 lb. per year to the federal annual limit of 42 lb., reports the Portland Press Herald.

Dublin-based Ecocem Materials Ltd.’s subsidiary, Orcem Americas Inc., has signed a 65-year lease for 4.8 acres at the Vallejo Marine Terminal in California, reported the North Bay Business Journal. The company plans to invest $50 million for a cement manufacturing facility that will produce 2,200 tpd of ecological cement (ecocem) made from granulated blast-furnace slag.

Mexico City-based Elementia SA is in negotiations to buy out partner Lafarge SA in their joint venture, Bloomberg reported citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Cemex has started the process to annex 307 acres along Linebaugh Road, currently in Bath Township, Ohio, into Fairborn, according to news sources. The company has operations on adjoining land along Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. Cemex also owns property in Xenia Township, Fairborn and Beavercreek.
