HeidelbergCement signed the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s (WBCSD) “Pledge for Access to Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at the Workplace” or WASH Pledge.

Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb recently awarded the Lehigh Cement Co. plant in Mitchell, Ind., the Governor’s Century Business Award, which honors Indiana businesses that have remained in operation for at least 100 years and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

Opponents of a proposed cement facility in Vallejo, Calif., are sending a clear message to four city council members with two new billboards that read, “No Cement Plant … We will vote you out!” According to local media, the billboards will run for a month and are located near the ferry terminal on Tennessee Street and on Couch Street.

Cemex earned five Portland Cement Association Awards, including the 2018 Energy and Environment Award for Land Stewardship, at the association’s Cement and Concrete Fly-In event, held in Washington, D.C., last month.

The Colombian Superintendent of Industry and Commerce (SIC) ratified sanctions that were imposed in December on Cementos Argos, Holcim Colombia and Cemex Colombia, for price cartelization that took place between 2010-2012, reported El Tiempo. The cement producers were fined a combined $71.6 million (COP 201,616 million).
