Total shipments of portland and blended cement, including imports, in the United States and Puerto Rico in January 2022 were an estimated 6.6 million metric tons (Mt), a slight decrease from shipments in January 2021, according to the most recent USGS Mineral Industry Survey. The leading producing states for portland and blended cement in January were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Alabama.
The leading cement-consuming states (Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and Arizona) received 51% of January shipments.
Masonry cement shipments totaled an estimated 175,000 metric tons in January 2022, a slight decrease from those in January 2021. The leading masonry cement-consuming states in January 2022 were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, Georgia, California, North Carolina and Tennessee; these states received 68% of January shipments.
Clinker production, excluding Puerto Rico, totaled an estimated 5.8 Mt in January 2022, a slight increase from production in January 2021. The leading clinker-producing states in January 2022 were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Alabama.
